![]() I'd be extremely happy to have an XML interface to xeno-canto, as I'd have to work less. Ok, so for the sound recognition I'll wait for news here.įor the XML format, keeping it short. Oh, aa an aside one user of your blueBill app remarked that he would prefer streaming sound to downloads. This would have to be a combination of taxonomic information and technical information. We have been thinking about defining an xml format for sharing information about bird sounds for a while now. On another note: I found a blog where you show xml used by the BBC to share information between websites, apps etc. Check out the features for his findings so far.īoth of these things are probably long term targets. It's called Pai-Luiz, and at some point it will be an integral part of xeno-canto. Hermann Redies has been working very hard on the web implementation of a recognition algorithm. Sound recognition: this was one of the reasons to start xeno-canto in the first place. There are plenty of sites where similar things are running I think. On the first one, I bet it is possible to organise things in such a way that uploads from mobiles are possible. BTW, I'm not expert at all in sound analysis and recognition, but I could implement algorithms suggested by an expert (or maybe integrating existing open source software). I'd also bet that some weeks ago I found some web pages about this topic by a xeno-canto member, but I can't find them. ![]() I've googled around and find a few discussion (including one at xeno-canto) but with no conclusions. uploading the files to xeno-canto without passing through a computer, but I don't know whether people first postprocess it on a computer (I suppose they do).Īutomatic bird song recognition. ![]() I'm curious whether there could be some specific feature for birders that can be implemented in the phone. It is relatively easy to add support for recording from the phone (indeed there is already a number of software for recording sounds). I have two specific points about xeno-canto, and I'd like to have feedback before starting working on it (because they could be unfeasible and/or useless): Thanks :-) Any kind of help is appreciated, including localization. ![]()
